Hi, and thank you for visiting with us this week.




With the beginning of the New Year it is timely to consider where we’ve been, and where we’re going. My Mom and Dad opened Antonio’s on June 28th, 1964 and I am proud that we will be escorting the restaurant into its 54th year of continuous operation. In a market segment that about 80% go out of business within 24 months, this is all but unheard of. In fact we are the oldest restaurant, by far, in Simsbury. In a group of less than 8 restaurants to survive this long in the entire state of Connecticut; and a group of less than 1,000 restaurants in the entire United States. In a word, I’m proud of the opportunity that the people of Simsbury & Granby have afforded us, and we will always be appreciative.

Okay, that’s where we’ve been, now as to where we’re going. Well I figure we’ll stay with the same formula my Mom and Dad started with, that they learned from both sets of my grandparents when they immigrated to this marvelous country, and worked their way up from dishwashers to owners. That is to serve good food at a reasonable price with cordial service. I sincerely hope you will always find this to be true here at Antonio’s.

As for the more distant future; will one of my children one day take the helm? I would never limit them in how they pursue their own lives, but let’s be real; of course I’d sure be proud if they did!

At least a quarter pound of oven roasted beef served hot, stacked on grilled rye bread with caramelized onions and slices of Swiss cheese. Enhanced with a horseradish mayonnaise and garnished with a pickle.

Our freshly prepared and hand stretched pizza dough dressed with our pesto sauce, and finished with a blanket of whole milk mozzarella cheese. Stone oven baked.

For those unfamiliar with cacciatore; we start by simmering spears of fresh bell peppers, sweet Spanish onions and mushrooms with coarsely chopped garlic in a drip (or two), of olive oil. Next we deglaze with dry white wine, add strips of peeled tomatoes and lightly spice. Anyway, back to the special. We start with the cacciatore, add two hand rolled meatballs, a mild Italian sausage link, and smother with whole milk mozzarella cheese. Slowly oven baked, and served to you with a side of 42 hand selected penne rigate noodles dressed with marinara. Comes with a mini-loaf of fresh Garlic Bread.


CHICKEN CACCIATORE

We use the same cacciatore recipe mentioned in the special above. But for this special we simmer it with plump chunks of chicken breasts. Served upon a bed of 87, individually hand selected, penne rigate noodles. Comes with a mini-loaf of fresh Garlic Bread.


PRETTY IN PESTO SALMON SPECIAL

At least a half-pound of fresh Atlantic salmon, char grilled over an open flame. Just before it reaches the pinnacle of moist perfection, we smother with our fresh pesto sauce of 100% Olive Oil, fresh basil, Parmesan cheese, fresh garlic cloves, select herbs, and pine nuts. Glazed in our stone oven and accompanied by sides of our rice pilaf as well as sautéed zucchini accented by mushrooms. Comes with a mini-loaf of fresh Garlic Bread.
