Hi, and thank you for visiting with us today!

We’re just returning from what has been an incredible time in Newport. I can’t thank my restaurant family enough for allowing me to pause and spend time with my kids during this time of life that seems to be absolutely flying by otherwise. While it will be nice for the kids to return to a set schedule, the passing of time can be bittersweet as my children move towards growing up. I will cherish the memories of summers such as this one, for the rest of my life.

Meanwhile, back at the farm, all of the livestock have made it through the summer and are enjoying these cooler evenings as they get a graze on. But, as I ponder getting a graze on, I can’t help but think of our autumn menu. If you’ve got any ideas or input; please share them with us!

In family news, Tommy and Johnny will both be joining the Farmington Valley NFL Flag Football League; where I hope they both get on the same team. Katherine will be returning to Simsbury Soccer.

Also this week, I’m looking forward to some preseason football in the bar. I’ve always been proud that we show every professional football game available.

Last, but not least, a heartfelt thank you for choosing to spend your time and money here at our local restaurant. We consciously try to support our local farms and purveyors and appreciate your supporting us.

A plump chicken breast char grilled over an open flame and tossed with sautéed peppers and onions. Seasoned with our own fajita spices and a drizzle of honey before rolling with diced ripe tomatoes and shards of iceberg lettuce in a warm flour tortilla.

Fresh ground sirloin hand patted and dredged in Louisiana Cajun spices before char grilling to your desired temperature. IRON HORSE ROAST BEEF MELT

At least a quarter pound of oven roasted beef served hot, stacked on grilled rye bread with caramelized onions and slices of Swiss cheese. Enhanced with a horseradish mayonnaise and garnished with a pickle.

Two petite filets of sole lightly dredged in seasoned flour and deep fried to a golden brown. Folded in (2) warm tortillas with our homemade Cole slaw and finished with a drizzle of our fresh dill aioli and limes.


PLYMOUTH ROCK PORK CHOP

A plump pork chop, weighing about 3/4 of a pound, lightly dusted with garlic, black pepper, a miniscule pinch of salt and char grilled over an open flame. Accompanied by sides of applesauce, our fresh mashed potatoes and pan sautéed zucchini slices enhanced with mushroom. You'll get some delicious Garlic Bread as well!


STRANGE MAGIC

We introduce minced garlic, chopped broccoli, strips of roasted red peppers and sautéed fresh spinach to our pan. A Cajun-spiced grilled chicken breast gets diced into bite sized chunks, and joins the fun. The mood in the pan is then amplified with a teensy dash of crushed red pepper flakes and a disc of garlic butter. Wouldn’t you know it, 116 penne rigate noodles crash the party, and once they hit the sauce, it’s just like old times! (You'll get some delicious Garlic Bread as well!)


THAT'S A SPICY MEAT-A-BALL PIZZA

Our freshly made pizza dough, hand stretched and dressed with our original 1964 recipe pizza sauce. Topped with whole milk mozzarella and slices of our original 1966 recipe hand rolled meatballs. Enchanted with sprinkles of oregano, basil, parsley and crushed red pepper before baking in our original stone oven (that we bought used in 1964). 10” or 16” versions


STEVEN'S BAKED STUFFED SOLE

Two filets of sole wrapped around a bread stuffing featuring shrimp and real lump crab meat. Snuggled into their own private casserole, and drizzled with butter, dry sherry and a squeeze of lemon. Slowly oven baked to allow the flavors to intermingle, before being sealed in. Served hot and moist with sides of freshly made rice pilaf and sautéed fresh vegetables. Accompanied by a mini Garlic Bread loaf.
